Clinical Supervision

Expert, Experienced, Ethical

As an integrative and relational therapist, my supervisory style is based on these same principles. An individualised, considered and caring approach underpinning solid supervisory theory.  Whether you are in training or an experienced therapist, my aim is to support you to bring concerns and dilemmas,  as well and moments of joy and breakthroughs. My intention is also is to grow your internal supervisor to lean upon outside of our sessions.

I have extensive experience of working with therapists in differing stages of their career; through qualification, starting and building private practice or applying for BACP accreditation.  From my time as an NHS Counselling Service Lead, I supervised varied professionals aside from counsellors such as healthcare clinicians, service leads and managers.

Group supervision

Alongside my supervisory work in private practice, I am also a group supervisor for a local low cost women's charity. I support trainee therapists on their road to qualification with providing ethical and effective counselling to women, struggling with varied challenges from pregnancy and fertility issues, menopause. burnout, compassion fatigue, sexual assault, trauma, dating and relationships, domestic violence and childhood abuse.

I offer group supervision to private trainee and qualified therapists so please do enquire via the contact form below. Group supervision has many benefits, to reducing monthly cost to learning from your peers and gaining extra knowledge, insight and alternative perspectives.

How I work

Creative, Curious, Containing

I work purposefully with you to build a trusting relationship that challenges, nurtures and supports, alongside developing your confidence, knowledge and abilities in providing effective and ethical counselling to clients.

I respect your level of experience and offer you space to reflect on dynamics in the therapeutic space.  We will explore together any issues that you may wish to bring, be that around client work, personal development or work-related issues.

For qualified therapists, I can also support you with the BACP accreditation process.

Style

Supervision is integrative, but as Carl Jung says, “Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.” and I concur. The relationship between supervisor and supervisee is incredibly important and building an authentic bond between us, I believe, is fundamental to providing useful supervision.  I have been told I'm very easy to talk to and supervision sessions can also be fun and light when needed! Connection is key.

Supervision Model

Adaptable, Flexible, Open

There are a variety of models of supervision in use today. One of the most common is Hawkins and Shohet Seven-Eyed Model, and this is the core model I implement. However, I offer flexibility and creativity in the approach used, adapting it to meet the need and preferences of each supervisee, irrespective of therapist modality.

Safety

You may be working independently in private practice or for an organisation, either way, it's important that you don't feel isolated so my aim is to be as encouraging and supportive as I can be.  I work to the BACP's ethical framework and while you bear the primary responsibility of your client work, I will ensure your practice adheres to a recognised, safe and ethical standard and at times, adopting a more directive approach when required.
