Experienced Therapy in Surbiton & Online

Compassionate, collaborative and thoughtful support for overwhelming experiences or personal growth

Integrative Psychotherapy - EMDR Therapy - Supervision

Sometimes life can become overwhelming. You might feel anxious, exhausted, disconnected from yourself or simply unsure how to move forward. Or perhaps you are struggling with a harsh inner critic that's stopping you from living life to it's fullest.

You may be someone who is used to coping, caring for others and keeping everything together, but is finding that anxiety, exhaustion, grief or past experiences are becoming harder to manage.

I offer a warm, thoughtful space where you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. Together, we can make sense of what you’re experiencing and explore what you need to feel more like yourself again.

Welcome, I'm Jane

I’m Jane, a BACP accredited therapist with extensive experience supporting adults through anxiety, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, trauma and significant life changes.

Before moving exclusively into private practice, I was a Clinical Counselling Lead within the NHS, where I led a service providing therapy, supervision and training to hundreds of NHS staff during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience gave me a particular understanding of the pressures faced by people who spend their working lives caring for others while often putting their own needs last.

I bring together my professional training and experience with a genuine interest in understanding the person behind the difficulties they are experiencing.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative and trauma-informed. I pay attention not only to what you’re thinking and feeling, but also to how experiences may continue to show up in your body, relationships and everyday life.

I understand that talking about difficult experiences can feel daunting. You don’t have to arrive with everything worked out, and you don’t have to tell your story perfectly.

My role is to create a space where we can make sense of what you’ve experienced together, at a pace that feels safe for you.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties including;

Anxiety
Helping you understand what may be underneath your anxiety, develop a greater sense of calm and confidence, and explore whether unresolved experiences may be contributing to how you feel now.

Trauma/PTSD
A safe and paced space to explore experiences that may still be affecting how you feel, think and relate to yourself and others. EMDR can be particularly helpful for experiences that still feel emotionally “stuck”, including trauma, loss, relationship experiences and some forms of anxiety.

Burnout & overwhelm
A space to step out of constantly doing and begin to understand what is leaving you depleted.

Heartbreak & Dating difficulties
Support for the physical and emotional toll of heartbreak, toxic relationships or navigating the dating rollercoaster.

Grief & loss
Support when you’re living with the pain of loss, including grief that may have become complicated, delayed or difficult to process.

Life changes
Support when something has changed and you are finding it difficult to know what comes next.

Trauma-informed, experienced relational therapy

How I work

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be honest and understood rather than judged.

My approach is collaborative, relational and trauma-informed. I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels right for you, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular way of working.

My training in EMDR, complex trauma, attachment and couples work also informs how I work with individuals. In particular, I draw on an attachment-focused perspective when exploring how earlier relationships and experiences may continue to influence anxiety, relationships and the way you see yourself.

I work at your pace, with curiosity and compassion, helping you to understand yourself more deeply while also finding practical ways to create change.

You don't have to carry it alone

You may have spent a long time managing things by yourself, being the person others rely on and putting your own needs somewhere further down the list. You don't need to know exactly what you need from therapy before you get in touch. I'm happy to talk through what's bringing you to therapy and whether I might be the right therapist for you.
